HART Healthier U Employee Health Fair
On Thursday, October 2, 2025, Smart Health Initiatives will return for our second year at the HART Employee Health & Wellness Fair. This annual event brings together 250–300 HART team members for a day dedicated to interactive, educational, and fun activities promoting healthy living.
We’ll be showcasing our community endurance events, including the upcoming Dash4Diabetes 5K & 10K Walk/Run, and offering complimentary and discounted race registrations exclusively for attendees. Our booth will also feature resources on type 2 diabetes prevention, along with information on SHI programs that promote active lifestyles and health equity.

The Juneteenth 5K CommUnity Walk/Run returns on Sunday, June 21, 2026, with registration opening in March. After two amazing years at Rowlett Park, we’re moving to Lowry Park—a vibrant new venue to celebrate freedom, unity, and community wellness.
Whether you walk, run, or cheer from the sidelines, your participation helps raise awareness about health equity and fuels programs that promote well-being for all.

Event Recap: Health and Wellness Spectacular

Location: Woodland Terrace Park, East Tampa
SHI participated in the Health and Wellness Spectacular in East Tampa, along with notable organizations such as AARP and the City of Tampa. This outdoor health fair was held in Woodland Terrace Park and focused on fitness and education to engage the community in wellness activities. Participants enjoyed a morning walk around the park with stops at various partner tables, including SHI's. Our main objective was to raise awareness about diabetes management and prevention, which is crucial for the health of Florida. Key partners like Tampa Fire Rescue and the American Heart Association also contributed to the event's educational impact. This three-hour event highlighted SHI's commitment to health education and community involvement. We are proud to have had the opportunity to be involved.
Event Recap: Ahmaud Arbery Memorial Walk/Run

Location: Water Works Park, Downtown Tampa
Walkers and Runners of all ages, genders, and backgrounds came together to take part in the 4th annual Ahmaud Arbery Memorial Walk/Run. The event has grown in significance and participation with each passing year and was hosted by Black Men Run. SHI was a proud participating sponsor of the event, which took place along the Riverwalk despite the rain and drew more than 100 participants.
This community-wide event was free for all who came to honor the memory of Ahmaud. The event featured a range of exciting activities, including nourishment provided by Fleet Feet, who offered snacks and refreshments post-event to ensure participants were revitalized after their journey. Saucony also conducted on-site demonstrations of their latest footwear, encouraging folks to test various models in a quest to find their perfect fit. In addition, the event featured a raffle where three pairs of Saucony shoes were given away.
Representatives from various groups such as Black Girls Run Tampa, Latinos Run Tampa, and the hosting organization, Black Men Run Tampa joined in the fun, along with members of the AKAs and Alphas, underscoring the event's broad community appeal.

The Juneteenth 5K CommUnity Walk/Run was a powerful celebration of freedom, unity, and wellness! Mayor of Tampa, Jane Castor, kicked off the event, setting the tone for an inspiring day as participants came together to honor Juneteenth while promoting health and community engagement. From the energy at the starting line to the celebration at the finish, the event was a true testament to the strength of our community. A heartfelt thank you to our volunteers, sponsors, and participants for making this day a success!

The Dash4Diabetes 5K & 10K Walk/Run brought together runners, walkers, and supporters to raise awareness about type 2 diabetes. Tampa City Councilman Guido Maniscalco kicked off the event, helping to emphasize the importance of community efforts in the fight against diabetes. As the only event of its kind in Tampa during National Diabetes Month, it was an inspiring day filled with energy, purpose, and collective action. Every step taken contributed to raising awareness and supporting health initiatives that make a difference. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible!
