The 2026 I ❤️ Collard Greens 5K & Fitness Extravaganza was more than a race—it was a celebration of culture, movement, and healthier living. Families, runners, walkers, and community leaders came together for a day designed to make wellness feel accessible, welcoming, and fun.



More than 275 participants took part in the 5K and the 1 Mile LiL Greens Fun Run, creating a space where both first-time walkers and seasoned runners could show up, move, and be part of something meaningful. Through fitness, food, and education, the event advanced Smart Health Initiatives’ mission to prevent type 2 diabetes by meeting people where they are and connecting them to real tools for change.

The experience extended well beyond the course. BayCare provided health screenings, while Feeding Tampa Bay connected families to essential services. Maher brought energy with a showcase of their latest vehicles, Fit2Run powered the course with critical water stations, and LifeLink educated attendees on the life-saving impact of organ donation. Support from the Foundation for a Healthy St. Pete and the City of St. Petersburg made it all possible.

With line dancing, a live DJ, and interactive wellness activities throughout the day, the event created an environment where everyone could engage—whether they came to run, walk, or simply be part of the movement.
